Leader of Waltham Forest question time
“Why is my new school not going to be built?” asked the little boy.
“Because the nasty ConDem Government stopped Labour’s Building Schools for the Future programme” answered Leader of the Council, Cllr Chris Robbins.
“Why are you proposing to sell off my daycare and respite care service?” asked some disabled service users and their carers.
“To balance the books” replied Cllr Robbins.
“So with all your cuts why are you spending thousands of pounds on new curtains and carpet in your office?” asked the residents of Waltham Forest.
“Because my office is invisible to the public!” said Cllr Robbins.
So…. the Leader of the Council presides over £37 million cuts including laying off staff whilst having new carpet and curtains in his office!
Note: This is the second office Cllr Robbins has had refurbished in the last two years while the Council makes cuts.

While you are at it, why not ask Leader Robbins why he sacked Chief Eexecutive Andrew Kilburn, though there were no grounds for dismissal – a move that cost the borough close to £500,000.
Welcome!
Perhaps this is an early example of Mr Cameron’s Big Society concept. In this case, scrutiny of public officers is to be carried out by volunteers: even though elected councillors and highly-salaried officials are supposed to be doing the job, we know that it’s not happening.
Cllr Chris Robbins seems to be very good at wasting council tax payers money as leader of the council for 2 terms he must be held responsible along with MP Stella Creasy on mismanagement of public funds. They both must have been fully aware of contracts that were green lighted for various projects that never delivered what they were supposed to under contract which runs into millions.
Have you heard of the one one where the Councillors show up to support the local library. Then behind the public’s back, hold a meeting to talk about ‘disposing’ said library?
Except were it not for the fact a resident at the meeting leaked what she heard to the Blackhorse Action Group, this duplicity would have gone unnoticed.
Co-incidently they’ve since made the section of the minutes discussing ‘disposals’ private and not for release to the public…. That old chestnut… the same ‘private’ clause used to hid the truth behind reasons for our CEO’s departure and golden handshake of silence.
Transparency from our dear leader Chris Robbins?
Rotten borough thanks to rotten Councillors, through and through.
