Labour Council Honours Truth Will Out

For many years the Labour Party has waged a campaign to stifle freedom of expression by pumping millions of pounds of local tax payers money into the Councils ‘pravda style‘ publication – Waltham Forest News (WFN).

It is said the ultimate aim, started by former Council leader, Cllr Clyde Loakes, and continued by ‘Strong Leader’, Cllr Chris Robbins, is to rid Waltham Forest of the free press such as The Guardian.

So it is with some pride that we have heard that access to this website, by Council staff, has been blocked by our Stalinist rulers.

A GREAT HONOUR INDEED!!!

THANK YOU CLLR ROBBINS

Liberals find their voice

Four months after the relaunch of the Waltham Forest Liberal Party they have finally had something to say.

Former Waltham Forest Councillor, James O’Rourke, suggests he was responsible for getting the council to collect rubbish left “festering for the last three weeks” and is quoted as saying “Cllr Loakes has presided over the introduction of a contractor worse than the previous contractor – Verdant. Something I thought would not have been possible.”

He may well be correct?

Do we remember some years ago when the refuse collection contract was transferred from in-house to Verdant? Remember the uproar on blogs and local newspapers?

We do. The then politician responsible for bin collection was former councillor, Bob Belam. Bloggers and commentators filled Waltham Forest Guardian’s website with hundreds of criticisms – much of it threatening and personal – in what looked decidedly like a ‘politically’ [sic] organised campaign and also included many of Mr Belam’s former political colleagues!

What intrigues us is the ‘uproar’ to ‘Loakes the Jokes’ latest wheeze of engaging Kier to collect the boroughs refuse. Over three Guardian web articles a mere 31 comments have been recorded.

The lack of ‘official opposition’ in Waltham Forest from the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats leads us to conclude, sadly, that we will have to watch the Labour Party destroy our borough until our next opportunity to remove them at the May 2014 local elections.

Waltham Forest deserves, and needs, to have elected people who put the boroughs interests above that of Party or personal interests.

Cutting through the politics of cuts

Tonight, in Waltham Forest Town Hall, a massive social injustice has been meted out upon the most vulnerable in our community.

The latest tranche of local Labour cuts, led by Cllr Chris ‘Strong Leader’ Robbins, will  have a negative impact on the homeless, mentally ill, disabled, elderly and vulnerable young a Council report admits after they make hundreds of support staff redundant.

Robbins and his Labour cronies argues it has no choice as the Government moves to the budget deficit quickly.

Cllrs Bob Sullivan and Matt Davies’ Coalition Government argues that the former Labour Governments mishandling of the UK’s finances has led them to inflicting cuts Mrs Thatcher ‘could only have dreamt of’.

It seems it is the task of the weakest to protect the banks, politicians, and millionaires. The rich people of the UK must NOT be made to suffer. These cuts HAD to be made and it is only fair that the weakest should suffer the most. This is the nature of our current politics: the Masses suffer so that a rich minority can prosperously live glorious lives.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

The Art of Misdirection

Since the revelation that fraud had occurred in the handling of money intended for Waltham Forest’s poorest areas the Council’s most senior legal Officer, Terry Osbourne, has issued a statement saying

..it appears to me that there may have been an error in the minutes produced in relation to the discussion at the committee

Whilst Ms Osbourne admits that the word ‘fraud’ was written by the committee clerk in their notebook she goes on to say that

I am satisfied that this word cannot be attributed to Ray (Head of Audit) in the way it appears in the minutes

The Truth Will Out team will happily suspend disbelief when a magician says he’ll saw a woman in half. That’s entertainment. But when Ms Osbourne says the minutes probably do not accurately reflect what was said, it’s not entertaining; its bordering on criminal.

The key word for us is probably. As a lawyer, is Ms Osbourne covering hers and the Councils back in case there is a challenge? Why would Waltham Forest Guardian print a quote from the Head of Audit as if one of their reporters had attended the meeting?

The key to magic is misdirection, fooling the audience into looking in the wrong direction.

Even stalwart anti-fraud campaigner, Nick Tiratsoo, says he has been assured that members of the committee do not recall hearing the word ‘fraud’ used as it is recorded in the minutes and that it was a transcription error.

This episode led us to consider on what other occasions misdirection has or is being used.

This time last year the Liberal Democrats self-destructed after the de-selection of prominent senior councillors. At the time The Scarlet Pimpernel said that a certain Mr Saeed Diwan had been selected as part of a fair process.

Recently the Liberal Democrats delivered a Focus team calendar in Chapel End ward. No mention of Mr Diwan who, less than a year ago, apparently said he was best placed to be a Chapel End Councillor because the ward is diverse and that he funded the Hoe Street Lib Dem shop! Mr Diwan and his conies contributed to the ousting of long serving Liberal Democrats who, according to the figures, would have been returned as Councillors, albeit on a reduced majority.

So what of the present? Well, it’s the Lib Dems who continue to misdirect the residents of Walthamstow.

Defunct ex-councillors, Khan, Meiszner, Smith, Wheatley and Woollcott still, almost a year after the local elections, purport to be Councillors of the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

The Truth Will Out team have drawn this deception to the the Council’s Director of Governance & Law, Terry Osbourne.

It’s Happening Here…NOT!

Labour Councillors, Karen Bellamy and Khevyn Limbajee, will in next weeks last full Council meeting of 2010 demand why “The local Liberal Democrat Party…are …opposing a major investment opportunity for Drapers Field that will lead to better sports and recreational facilities for all.”

What is this fantastic opportunity the Libs Dems are being accused of being against? Is it the proposal by the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) in their London 2012 Olympic Park Master Plan that

Existing play areas at Drapers Field are to be upgraded to provide training and warm-up facilities during the Games and a legacy sports centre for local users after they have finished?

The Waltham Forest Labour Party has agreed to lease Drapers Field to the Olympic Delivery Authority to house catering, laundry and delivery services, as well as general maintenance support which will mean this well used sports field will close to the public for 18 months as from January 2011.

Way back in 2008 the ODA invested £4.5 million in the Redbridge Cycle Centre replacing the old Eastway Cycle Circuit which was right on Waltham Forest’s southern boundary.

The British Olympic diving team have expressed an interest in using the Olympic diving pool opened earlier this year in Southend for training in the run up to the London games.

Waltham Forest’s ‘visionaries‘ Cllr Clyde (It’s happening here) Loakes and Cllr Chris Robbins have negotiated for a perfectly good sports field to be ripped up and used as a laundry. As for sporting legacy’s they are undefined and in the case of Drapers Field, will be not be available until at least early 2013!

Sound of silence

Only a year ago local newspaper comments pages, bloggers (many suspected to be Labour supporters) and Labour leaflets were attacking the man responsible for our streets, former Lib Dem Cllr Bob Belam, for the alleged poor refuse collection and street sweeping services. Strangely, even the Lib Dems in Walthamstow, spearheaded by Parliamentary candidate, Farid Ahmed, were calling for Cleaner Streets in their campaign literature.

So, how are things going now under the ‘leadership’ of  the current incumbent responsible for these services –  Cllr Clyde Loakes?

Labour's overflowing bins

Well, the Truth will Out Team can report that, under Labour, our streets are not clean and a bit of snow has seen refuse bins overflowing as the Council alleges they were unable to carry out collections due to “…last week’s severe weather conditions…”!!! Interesting the Council were unable to collect bins whilst dfs were able to deliver a three piece suite to one of the Truth Will Out team last week.

No bloggers complaining of dirty streets and overflowing bins. No Lib Dems calling for cleaner streets.

The silence is deafening.

Jobs for the boys

A rumour has reached the Truth Will Out Team that Waltham Forest Council has appointed a new Assistant Director without going through any external advertising process.

Allegedly, only one internal ‘candidate’ was interviewed for the post of Assistant Director of People, Policy and Performance. If true it seems the Labour administration chose not to test the market either in terms of talented people, to establish the market rate for the job or comply with the Councils Equalities Policy.

All this following the revelations about a former Waltham Forest Chief Executive.

If anyone can confirm this rumour please contact the Truth Will Out team.
